Back pain
Back pain is very common, most of us will suffer one or more episodes during our lives. Sometimes this starts suddenly and improves quickly without the need for treatment. For some it may follow a specific incident, such as lifting or long periods spent in one position, for others it may develop gradually and could be related to poor posture, repetitive strain or poor work position.
For others back pain can be debilitating, persistent and painful and reoccur. Other symptoms may occur such as leg pain or sciatica.
Why do we get back pain and general aches?

simple’ or ‘mechanical’ back pain. This is common, there are no trapped or compressed nerves, the pain is not related to any serious underlying condition. Muscles, joints and ligaments can all be involved, we do not always know the exact cause or tissues that are involved. Simple back pain can be caused by poor posture, prolonged sitting in an uncomfortable position, muscular tension, and emotional or work-related stress.
How can we help?
As Chiropractors we specialise in assessing, diagnosing and managing conditions and general aches and pains the back and spine. It is important for us to obtain as much information about the history of your back pain as possible so that a diagnosis can be made and recommendations for the best approach based on this and our experience and the nature of the issue you come in with. Your first treatment includes a full assessment ( taking details about your condition, current health and medical history, and performing a physical examination), following by a treatment. Your treatment may include gentle chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture or soft tissue work, or a combination of all three. Sometimes it may be necessary to refer you back to your GP for X-rays, MRI scans or blood tests.
Grant and Penny are qualified as Chiropractors and Acupuncturists, their aim is to reduce your discomfort and help your body back to optimal function. Alongside treatment, this is likely to include advice on lifestyle, posture and exercises.
